Maplewood Psychology

  • Is therapy for everyone?

Yes, therapy is beneficial for everyone. Life presents challenges for all of us, and having support from highly experienced therapists can help you process difficult life events in a healthy manner.
  • How soon can I get an appointment?

We can typically schedule you within 48 hours of your initial contact, depending on your specific preferences. Please contact us directly to arrange an appointment for individual counseling.
  • What insurance is accepted at the clinic?

We accept major insurance providers including Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, HealthPartners, Medica, United Health Care, UCare, and several smaller third-party insurance plans. For adolescent counseling services, please contact Maplewood Psychology directly.
  • How do I fill out paperwork?

We will provide you with a link to our provider portal where you can access all necessary paperwork for your first appointment. Alternatively, you may come to our clinic to complete paperwork in person. Please note that intake forms must be completed either on paper or using a computer, laptop, or tablet, as our software is not compatible with mobile phones. If using paper forms, please arrive 30 minutes before your first appointment or visit our office prior to your scheduled date.
  • Why is there so much paperwork?

The detailed paperwork allows you to describe your current situation and past experiences, giving our therapists valuable preparation time before your appointment. This preparation enables us to focus more on discussing your present concerns rather than gathering background information during the actual session.
  • Does therapy actually work?

Yes, therapy is proven effective through decades of research. The success of therapy often correlates with a client's motivation to participate and implement changes in their life. While there are many evidence-based therapeutic approaches, research consistently shows that the relationship between client and therapist is a crucial factor in successful outcomes. Contact us today to begin working with our relationship counselors.
  • What do I do if I am in crisis?

Maplewood Psychology operates with a 24-hour answering service. Simply call our main number and follow the prompts to connect with this service. The answering service will then contact your therapist on your behalf. For individual counseling needs, please reach out to Maplewood Psychology.
  • What if I don't like my therapist?

Feeling comfortable with your therapist is essential for effective treatment. If you determine that your current therapist isn't the right fit, they will assist you in transferring your care to another qualified professional on our team.
  • If my child needs therapy, can I talk with the therapist alone?

With appropriate permission, children over age 10 may remain in our waiting room while you have a private conversation with the therapist. For safety reasons, children under age 10 must be supervised at all times. For adolescent counseling services, we invite you to visit our clinic.
  • Do I have to come into the office for my appointment?

No, we offer multiple appointment formats including telehealth, telephone, and in-office sessions. Please inform both our intake coordinator and your assigned therapist about your preferred appointment format.
